Supporting Farm Safety Through Awareness: Why We’re Helping Promote the FarmersAid App

Farming is one of the most important industries in the UK, underpinning our food supply, rural economy and local communities. It is also one of the most challenging and potentially hazardous professions. That’s why we believe it’s important to support initiatives that help improve safety, preparedness and wellbeing across the farming sector.

At MSIG Europe, we are committed to supporting farmers through technology, innovation and partnerships that make a meaningful difference. By helping to raise awareness of resources designed specifically for the agricultural community, we hope to contribute to safer farms and stronger rural communities.

The Reality of Farm Safety

The statistics are sobering. Last year, 33 people lost their lives on British farms. Behind every number is a family, a business and a community facing an unimaginable loss.

Farms present unique working environments where accidents can happen quickly and emergency responders may take time to reach remote locations. In those critical moments, having access to clear, practical guidance can make a significant difference.

Introducing FarmersAid

Created by RABI (the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution), the FarmersAid app has been developed specifically for farming environments and the challenges they present.

The free app provides real-time, step-by-step guidance for 10 common serious on-farm accident scenarios, helping users respond with greater confidence while emergency services are on their way.

Designed with the realities of agricultural work in mind, FarmersAid offers accessible information that can be used during high-pressure situations, supporting those who may need to act quickly to assist a colleague, friend or family member.

Why Awareness Matters

Safety tools can only make a difference if people know they exist. That’s why we are proud to support efforts to increase awareness of the FarmersAid app across the farming community.

Whether you’re a farmer, farm worker, contractor, family member or someone who regularly visits agricultural sites, downloading the app and familiarising yourself with its guidance could help you feel better prepared should an emergency occur.

Building a culture of safety is a shared responsibility, and small actions—from safety training to making critical resources readily available, can help protect lives.
